Broadcast Alias enables managers to delegate another community manager to broadcast on their behalf. This helps busy, high-profile managers save time by selecting another manager to send a broadcast in their name.
How Does Broadcast Alias Work?
When an alias sends a broadcast for a manager, members see only the name of the manager when viewing the broadcast, not the name of the alias sending for the manager.
Before a manager can send an Alias Broadcast, they must set up Alias permissions for themselves or have their manager set them. Only managers can be an Alias, and they can only designate other managers to send broadcasts on their behalf. When an Alias Broadcast is sent, the recipients and attachments available for use are subject to the sending manager’s permissions, not the permissions of the manager being broadcast for.
Example Broadcast Alias
Katie Rubak is a Global Manager and designates Lindsey Rapose, a Division Manager, to broadcast on her behalf. Lindsey can only broadcast to the Divisions set in her permissions. She does not automatically inherit Katie’s Global Manager permissions.
The following steps outline the Broadcast Alias process:
- Set Permissions for Broadcast Alias
- Send a Broadcast as an Alias
- View Alias Broadcasts
Set Permissions for Broadcast Alias
A manager can go to their own Profile to select Broadcast Alias permissions, or they can have their Global Manager set their Alias permissions for them. The Manager for Alias must have "Can create and send Broadcasts" permissions enabled. To set your Broadcast Alias permissions, complete the following steps.
- Go to your Member Profile and click Settings.
- In the Permissions tab, select the Can be an alias check box.
- In the field for Select other managers who can send as…, add the managers who will be enabled to send an alias broadcast.
- Click Save.
Send a Broadcast Alias
When a manager has been granted the Broadcast Alias privilege, they will see a Send on behalf ofoption in the Fromsection of the Create Broadcast Page. From the dropdown menu, they can select the manager for whom the alias broadcast will be sent, and all the Fromfields in the will be replaced with the manager’s name and profile.
For instructions on creating a broadcast, see Create a Broadcast.
View Alias Broadcasts
You can view your Alias Broadcasts on the Broadcast Details and Broadcast Analytics pages in the Manager App. For managers, the Sender field will contain both the manager’s name and the alias name, such as “Lindsey Rapose on behalf of Katie Rubak.”
Broadcast Alias Details
On the Broadcast List page, when you filter by the manager’s name, you return both broadcasts the manager created and broadcasts that were created on her behalf by her alias. For example, if you filter by “Katie Rubak,” you get the broadcasts actually created by Katie and the broadcasts created by her alias.
If you filter by the alias’ name, “Lindsey Rapose,” you return all of Lindsey’s broadcasts, including the ones Lindsay created as an alias for Katie.
