Dynamic Signal has standardized character limits for fields across the platform’s manager app. If you type beyond a field’s character limit, it is possible that your text will be truncated, or not appear. There are two kinds of character limits for fields: soft and hard limits.
- Soft limits are the recommended character count for a field. While it is possible to type beyond the soft limit for a field, the best practice is to strictly adhere to the limit to prevent having your text truncated.
- Hard limits are the maximum character count allowed for a field. You cannot type beyond the hard limit for a field.
How Soft Limits Work
As you populate a field that has a soft limit, an indicator will appear with your current character count, as well as the character limit for the field. Indicators signal that you are approaching the soft limit for that field, and will turn red if your character count surpasses the soft limit.
Refer to the Character Limits for Each Function table below for the soft and hard character limits for every field.
