Overview
Dynamic Signal allows you to create a post with a playable video embedded in it by either importing a post by URL, or uploading the video file and attaching it to a post. This article describes how to have a playable video by importing a post by URL. For example, it is possible to create a post from a Tweet that has an embedded video, and for a member viewing that post in the app to play that video from the member app.
As an alternative, if you have the video file, then you can upload the video using the instructions on this page.
Creating a post with an embedded video from a 3rd party
First, these posts can be created in two ways, either by the post creation flow (by importing a link), or by connecting a feed.
Second, if the imported content has an embedded video, and is from either Twitter, Facebook, or YouTube, then the post will have that video embedded in it and will be playable to members in the member apps.
Sharing posts with an embedded video from a 3rd party to external social networks
These posts are shareable to external social networks, but with limitations as described below.
If the post has an embedded YouTube video, then it is possible to either share the post via the share dialog, or using social reactions. If the post is shared via the share dialog, then the Dynamic Signal platform will share a link to the video on YouTube to the selected social networks. The selected social network will create a new post and reference the URL from YouTube. Depending on the social network, the post may include an embedded YouTube player. Whether the post includes an embedded YouTube player is solely controlled by the external social network.
It is not possible to use the share dialog to share imported posts from Twitter or Facebook, because support for embedded content from Twitter or Facebook is not well supported across social networks. For example, Facebook does not support Facebook stories with Twitter URLs well, so the DySi platform will not allow a post created from a Twitter URL to be shared onto Facebook (because the experience on Facebook would be poor).
For posts that have embedded Facebook, Twitter, or YouTube videos, it is possible to do a social reaction. As an example of a social reaction, a member could click the retweet icon on a post in the member app of an imported Tweet. In this case, the effect would be the same as if that member retweeted the corresponding Tweet on Twitter from their account.
