The Dynamic Signal SharePoint Web Part extends the reach of communications and shareable content that you create with Dynamic Signal. You can add multiple web parts to one or more SharePoint pages. These web parts act as portals for pushing through content with a single click, displaying it front-and-center to employees via SharePoint.
There are two types SharePoint environments, online and on-premises. As you read these instructions, take note of which type your company is using.
- Select a category for each web part.
- Select targets from which you would like to pull content (only available for online).
- Select whether to show public content only or also allow private content.
- Choose how many posts you'd like to show at a time.
Now you can keep more employees engaged, reaching them on a channel they already use as part of their workflow.
- Compatible with SharePoint Online and SharePoint On-Premises (2016 SP2 and 2019)
- For SharePoint On-Premises, add an Azure Active Directory (AAD) instance that is configured to secure your SharePoint site, as well as the Tenant ID for it. To get the Tenant ID follow the instructions from here https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/onedrive/find-your-office-365-tenant-id
- A specific Dynamic Signal category in mind from which you wish to pull content.
- For On-Premises, the SharePoint app package file (.sppkg), available here.
- Global Manager account for a community.
- SharePoint or global admin account in Office 365 for SharePoint Online and Global admin account in AAD for SharePoint On-Premises.
Whitelist Dynamic Signal URLs
- In your company's firewall, ensure that the URLs "agw.dynamicsignal.com" and "sharepoint.vstorm.xyz" are whitelisted (the latter is only needed if you intend to display private content).
Add Your SharePoint URL as a Trusted Domain
- In your Dynamic Signal community, select Admin --> Advanced --> API.
- Scroll down and click the Edit button by the API Settings.
- add your SharePoint site's URL, separated by a comma from the community domain (usually, *.voicestorm.com).
- Click Save.

Installing the Web Part on a SharePoint Site
To install a Web Part on a SharePoint site, perform the following procedures:
1. Deploy the Web Part package to the App Catalog.

2. Optional - Enable private content
If you intend to display public and private content in one or more web parts, be sure to complete both of these action items, in the order they are written:
- An admin needs to click this link to grant read permissions to the Azure Token Exchanger on the organization level. This won't prevent you from configuring any individual web part to display public content only.
- For SharePoint On-Premises,
- Disable popup blocker on your users' devices for your SharePoint site
- Fill in your AAD tenant ID that you gathered in the prerequisites step
- Only for SharePoint Online, Approve the pending permission request under API Management in the Office 365 Admin Portal. See Microsoft's documentation here for approving such permissions.
3. Add the Dynamic Signal Web Part App to the desired SP Site.

4. Use the Dynamic Signal Web Part.

5. Authenticate the Dynamic Signal Web Part.
- To add a your new web part, simply add it as content by adding a new section. When you initially add the web part, you'll get the message below:
Configure the Dynamic Signal Web Part
Click on the Edit web part button to open the settings panel and Authenticate (This involves entering your community URL and username/password).
(above screenshot is for online configuration, note that for On-Premises there would not be targets)
Once authenticated, select the category you wish to pull content from.
Targets (Online only)
Set your content targeting preferences. You may select or de-select more than one target by holding down the Ctrl key (⌘ on Mac) and clicking a target name.
The display setting offers two options: Display Public Content and Display Public and Private Content. Public content are posts that are Out-of-App and shareable, while private content is non-shareable.
The post limit is used to determine the maximum number of post we pull into the web part feed. If blank, this is set to 25 posts by default.
Azure Tenant ID (On-Premises only)
Fill in your AAD tenant ID that you gathered in the prerequisites step.
Click Publish in the top right corner of the page and your web part is ready to go!
