Xing recently announced changes around the use of their API that will take effect April 1. To help you better understand how it will impact sharing on the platform, we want to explain what it means for you.
These changes affect how third-party platforms and vendors connect and publish to Xing’s social media network. All third-party platforms must adhere to Xing’s latest changes to keep the ability to post content to your profiles and share exciting news with your network.
Similar to our response to Facebook’s policy change in August 2018, Dynamic Signal will be migrating to native sharing for all shares to Xing.
What’s Changing?
- When your Members want to share a post to Xing from your community, you'll still click the same arrow to open up the sharing dialogue box. From here, you'll select 'Other Sharing Options' to select Xing.
- After selecting Xing from the 'Other Sharing Options' menu, you'll be taken directly to your Xing app to complete your share. Add in your thoughts, a quote, or even emojis to personalize before posting. This is the same experience as sharing to Facebook today, and you’ve likely seen a similar experience in many other iOS and Android apps and websites.
- These new steps mean that our suggested share text has gone away for Xing. You can either copy and paste content into the dialogue box from the Post description or personalize it with your own text.
- Real-time shares are very important in Xing's new changes. You will no longer be able to schedule shares to Xing.
What’s Staying the Same?
When you want to share a post from your community, you'll still click the same arrow to open up the dialogue box. From here, the options to share directly to LinkedIn or Twitter will still remain the same.
